Introduction to Grails
Grails is a convention-over-configuration application development framework, written in the Groovy language and backed by the power of Spring, Hibernate, and other open source APIs. With a simple yet elegant approach, it has rapidly become a tool of choice for building powerful, rich applications in a short amount of time. This one-day survey of Grails provides enough experimentation and exposure so that you can start building useful applications immediately.

Recommended Audience
Students should be comfortable writing and configuring database-driven web-based applications using one or more MVC frameworks such as Struts, Spring MVC, JSF. Work with JDBC and/or Hibernate strongly recommended.
Requirements
Users will bring their own laptops, loaded with Java SE 5 or higher. Grails can use any IDE, even notepad, and we will demo a combination of Eclipse, Idea and NetBeans. If you require equipment such as a temporary laptop, please make note of it during the registration process.
